This section, Spiritual Gems, encourages us to look beyond the surface of the Bible account and uncover valuable spiritual lessons hidden within Jehovah’s Word. By examining prophetic actions, historical events, and symbolic language in the book of Isaiah, we gain deeper insight into Jehovah’s standards, his view of the world conditions in the last days, and the hope he offers to those who trust in him. These verses strengthen our faith, sharpen our discernment, and motivate us to remain loyal, active, and confident in Jehovah’s saving power.
Isa. 20:2. Did Isaiah walk completely naked for three years? (w06 12/1 p. 11 par. 1).
It is likely that he removed only his outer garment and went about “wearing very little clothing.” According to 1 Samuel 19:24, the footnote explains that the word “naked” can mean “scantily clothed.” It does not indicate that he was literally naked; rather, it conveys that he was dressed with minimal clothing.
What spiritual gems have you found in this week’s Bible reading?
Isaiah 17:3
This verse serves as a strong reminder for all who are dedicated to Jehovah. He requires exclusive devotion and accepts only sacred service that comes from the heart. Moreover, he detests those who turn against their own brothers.
Isaiah 17:12
In these last days, violent and turbulent waves of unrest are sweeping over the world’s population. The restless and rebellious sea of mankind produces dissatisfaction and upheaval. Jehovah will rebuke this noisy crowd. His heavenly Kingdom will eliminate every disruptive organization and individual. We must avoid being in such a condition so as not to experience Jehovah’s anger.
Isaiah 17:14
Many are plundering Jehovah’s servants, treating them harshly and without respect because they are neither part of nor wish to belong to the world’s major religions. Critics, biased individuals, and fanatical opposers view them as easy targets. Nevertheless, God’s people have complete confidence that “the morning,” when their trials will come to an end, is drawing very near.
Isaiah 18:7
Today, millions of modern-day “Ethiopians” who fear Jehovah are presenting “a gift” connected with their worship. They do so by sharing in the great work of preaching the good news of the Kingdom throughout the inhabited earth. What a wonderful gift to Jehovah!
Isaiah 19:1
Very soon, Jehovah will take action against Satan’s organization. When that happens, it will become evident that the gods of this system of things are worthless. It is vital not to belong now or in the future to Satan’s organizations, so as to avoid sharing in their punishment.
Isaiah 19:2
Since God’s Kingdom was established in 1914, “the sign of Jesus’ presence” has been marked by nation rising against nation and kingdom against kingdom. Tribal conflicts, brutal genocides, and so-called ethnic cleansings have taken millions of lives during these last days. Such “pangs of distress” will only intensify as the end draws closer. Therefore, we should ask Jehovah for endurance to withstand these final days.
Isaiah 19:3
In the same way, false religion will be unable to save this corrupt system on the day of judgment. In time, Egypt came under the control of “a harsh master,” foreshadowing the bleak future awaiting this system of things. Hence, we must remain busy in Jehovah’s work while there is still time, before the end of this system arrives.
Isaiah 19:11
Trusting that human governments will provide help on the day of judgment is completely unreasonable. Although they may have access to vast knowledge, they lack godly wisdom. They have rejected Jehovah and replaced him with other gods, such as so-called science, philosophy, money, or pleasures. As a result, they do not understand God’s purposes; they are misled and confused, and their works are futile. How important it is not to be misled by this supposed wisdom, so that Jehovah may protect us on the day of his judgment.
Isaiah 19:16
Jehovah’s anointed ones and their companions “declare publicly the excellencies of God” and do everything possible to warn that the end of Satan’s organization is approaching. Let us do our utmost to spread Jehovah’s message, so that it serves as a testimony when the time of the end arrives.
Isaiah 19:20
Around the world, the cries of the oppressed are heard, yet human governments are unable to provide relief. However, Jehovah will send a magnificent Savior, King Jesus Christ, to deliver all the meek. At the climax of these last days, during the war of Armageddon, he will end suffering and grant everlasting blessings to humans who fear God.
